New Energy Economy is working to create on the ground renewable energy solutions that empower communities (both literally and figuratively) and foster economic development, environmental protection, human health, and energy democracy through energy choice and renewable energy deployment. New Energy Economy is developing a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) Campaign based on the success of the seven states that have implemented the policy instrument. CCA allows communities to pool their aggregate energy demand and select their energy provider based on the criteria they determine. Community Choice Aggregation has enabled 91 communities in Illinois to achieve 100% renewable energy.
SOL NOT COAL PROJECTS:
New Energy Economy continues our ongoing work to shift the budgetary landscape when it comes to energy investments by advocating for the use of public funds to solarize fire stations, schools, and other community spaces in order to demonstrate the viability of solar today and shift the market demand to favor renewables. In 2014-2015 New Energy Economy will install community-scale solar projects at the Tesuque Pueblo’s Farm Greenhouse, Tewa Women United (a Native health and community development organization), Monte Vista Farms, and the Habitat for Humanity Restore.
