New Mexico New Energy Projects

Many areas in New Mexico hold a wealth of renewable energy resources. Rural areas, including Land Grant, Native American, and ranching communities, will benefit greatly as New Mexico develops its wind, solar, biomass, biofuels, alternative transportation, and green building resources.

The development of these projects also holds great promise for entrepreneurs, investors, and businesses, which will thrive as New Mexico takes a prominent role in the area of renewable energy and efficiency. The National Labs could also be invigorated by refocusing their scientific and human resources and turning New Mexico into a focal point for the country's renewable energy industry.

“Cities account for 78% of all climate-warming emissions, but they may possess enough purchasing power to actually alter the weather. We buy car fleets, buses, construction equipment, computer systems, light bulbs. If we invest in efficient technologies, that can have huge implications for climate change.”

Greg Nickels, Mayor of Seattle
