We intervened in the PNM Avangrid merger case at the PRC because it offers no benefits to the people of New Mexico. We won and the PRC rejected the merger, but now they are back before the newly appointed PRC for a takeover of New Mexico energy again.

PNM's 2023 rate case will include final decisions on the prudence of Four Corners investments, San Juan rate credit delays and Palo Verde leases and decommissioning costs. PNM seeks to make ratepayers pay for hundreds of millions they unwisely spent on extending the life of coal and nuclear plants, and on top of that they have the gall to seek an increased Return on Equity even as their business risks have decreased.

New Energy Economy has intervened at the PRC to oppose the New Mexico Gas Company's plan to build a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) liquefaction, storage and regasification plant that would endanger surrounding communities, prove not cost effective for ratepayers and lock-in more fossil fuel investment, slowing the necessary transition to clean energy.
