A POWERFUL COMMUNITY GIFT THROUGH THE SOLARIZATION OF CENTRO DE AMISTAD SENIOR CENTER

Located in the Village of Santa Clara, New Mexico, (East of Silver City) this solar project will meet the electric needs of the senior center and allow monies previously set aside for electric bill payments to PNM be repurposed back into the program, like providing healthy meals to more seniors in the Village of Santa Clara, Bayard and Hurley.

Cecilia Parra (pictured above) taught at Cobre High for 30 years. She goes to the senior center every day to have lunch with her lifelong friends. Over a 25-year period the solar electric system at the Centro de Amistad senior center will:
 

  • Save $115,000 in electricity costs 

  • Eliminate 882,702 lbs of CO2 emissions

  • Avoid 367,793 lbs of coal from being burned

  • Save 353,081 gallons of water
