Mayor's Sustainability Award winners announced

And the winners are ....

The city of Santa Fe today announced the winners of the Mayor’s Sustainability Awards.

“These Santa Fe businesses, non-profits, leaders and city employees are doing the kind of hard work that will move the needle on lowering our carbon footprint and preparing us for the negative impacts of climate change,” Mayor Javier Gonzales said in a statement. “Congratulations to all of them, and a big thank you for their continued dedication.”

According to the city, "the Mayor's Sustainability Awards recognize programs, projects and people throughout Santa Fe that are dedicated to helping Santa Fe reduce its carbon footprint, improve its environment, build resilience in the face of climate change, provide environmental education, develop a green workforce, and much, much more."

The winners will be recognized at an awards ceremony from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center. The event is free and open to the public.

The ceremony precedes an evening conversation about organic philanthropy, also at the convention center, with Nell Newman.

Newman is the daughter of the late actor Paul Newman. Together, they co-founded Newman’s Own Organics: The Second Generation, according to a city press release.

The Santa Fe Green Chamber of Commerce and Women Of Green are sponsoring the event, which starts at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketssantafe.org or at The Lensic box office.
