No False Solutions
False climate solutions are technological or market based schemes promoted by fossil fuel companies and their political allies to give the appearance of meaningful climate action while actually functioning to delay effective policies that might challenge their power, control, and/or profits. These include carbon offset and trading schemes that commodify land, and water while failing to reduce emissions, as well as unproven tech like hydrogen, carbon capture & fracking waste reuse.

Errata Compounds WATR Alliance Misrepresentations
On April 7th, 2026 New Energy Economy and the Center for Biological Diversity filed a Joint Motion to Show Cause arguing that the WATR Alliance, in its petition seeking authorization to reuse and discharge produced water, had fabricated multiple quotations supporting their petition by alleging that the quotations were extracts from peer reviewed scientific papers.
