Oil and Gas Industry
New Mexico is the second highest producer of oil and natural gas in the country, and the Permian Basin's 2025 production is expected to account for 49% of the total U.S. production. With that extraction comes destruction of land, water and air quality, significant public health hazards and political corruption that is turning parts of New Mexico into a sacrifice zone and warming the planet at terrifying speed.
